Can I bundle labs or prescriptions into my health coaching package?

Why bundling payments isn't the right choice.

We recommend against bundling prescriptions into your coaching packages, and this guidance is for your protection.

Bundling can create the appearance that you are guaranteeing a prescription or selling medication without a license. To keep things clean and compliant, keep the transactions separate: clients pay you for your coaching program, and they pay Altro separately for their medications through the portal. The clinician makes the decision to prescribe, and you are never reselling medication.

Including lab testing in your package
If you want to include lab testing in your offering, the approach we typically recommend is to have the client pay for the labs directly through Altro rather than charging for the labs yourself. You can still present a single package price, with the coaching and the labs shown as separate line items.

Example: your coaching package is $2,000 and includes a comprehensive lab panel priced at $300. You would present it as $2,000 total, broken down as $1,700 paid to you for coaching and $300 paid through Altro for the labs.

The general principle
As a non-clinical partner, you should not charge clients directly for prescriptions or lab testing, and coaching packages should not be bundled with prescriptions. Bundling can be read as a promise to prescribe, which carries regulatory risk. Keeping your coaching fee separate from the clinical services is what keeps you protected.
