How does the client flow work for ordering prescriptions?

The ways a client can order through your portal, from direct product orders to starting with lab testing.

There are a couple of paths, depending on where your client is starting from.

1. Direct order: best for clients who know what they want, and the most common scenario.

Your client goes to your storefront (altroapp.com/yourbusinessname), orders the product they're interested in, and completes the medical questionnaire at checkout. A clinician reviews it, typically within one business day, and prescribes when appropriate. The pharmacy then ships the order directly to the client.

  • If a lab is required first (for example, for TRT), the client can order and complete the lab, and once results are ready (typically within about a week) they can order the product. If they order the product before completing the lab, the order will be stalled until the lab results are ready.

  • If a clinician determines a product isn't a fit for the client, the client is refunded, and the clinician can point them toward alternatives where appropriate.

2. Starting with labs: great for clients who aren't sure what they need, or want a full picture first.

The client orders a lab test (the Women's and Men's Comprehensive panels tend to be the most popular), schedules the appointment through the portal, and gets tested. Results appear automatically when they're ready. From there, the client can decide what they're interested in, and they can also request an interpretation document with guidance. Then they order as above.

As a health coach, you can educate clients on what the different products are, though you can't place orders for them prescribe. The portal also includes a description for each product to help clients learn more.

Most clients come in knowing what they're interested in, but starting with a lab test is always a great first step.
