The Meta Pixel is for partners running paid ads on Meta (Facebook and Instagram). It passes storefront activity, like page views, add-to-cart, and purchases, back to Meta so your campaigns can learn what's working and optimize accordingly. Without it, you're essentially running ads blind.
If you're only posting organically on social media, you don't need it. But if you're running paid Meta ads yourself or through an agency, it's essential.
The integration is available on the Pro plan, and setup is simple: enter your Meta Pixel ID and access token, and data begins flowing, typically within about a day. Full setup steps are in the Meta Pixel guide.
The integration is built with health privacy in mind. Events are sent to Meta without any health information attached, Meta receives that a purchase happened and its value, for example, but never what the product was or any clinical detail. Events are matched using hashed identifiers, and only approved event types are sent. This lets you measure and optimize your campaigns while keeping sensitive information out of the ad data.
